Roll the Cube
For the book, “Eyewitness Book on World War Two, “I will have the students answer questions related to the book. The students will have to participate in a scavenger hunt activity for the book. I will have a cube at the reading center for the book and each side of the cube will have a question on it. The students will roll the dice and answer 4 of the 6 questions on the dice. The student will roll the dice each time and whatever question the dice lands on the student will have to answer. If the student rolls the same question twice they will have to re roll the dice until it lands in a different question. The questions include:
1) What countries had fascist governments?
2) What countries had democratic governments?
3) When did D-Day occur and what happened?
4) What was the yellow star the Jews wore during the Holocaust?
5) When did Iowa Jima take place and what happened?
6) What were the women in the United States doing while the men were at war?


3) KWL Chart

For the book, “Remember Pearl Harbor, “the students will complete a KWL chart. This activity will meet the questioning domain. The students will first complete the first two columns on the KWL chart. They will first write everything that they know about Pearl Harbor. Then the students will write down at least 4 questions that they would like find the answer to while reading. Then the students will read the book. After reading the book the students will write down in the last column what they learned.
